[A couple of days after the wild boar population has suddenly boomed Mycroft will, one early morning, find an extremely dead one on his front step.
Nothing else. Just a dead boar. Someone with a good eye will be able to notice bite marks at the board's throat, and someone who is really clever will be able to note said bite marks match that of a fox's dentition.
[The elder Holmes will find, one day in the weeks leading up to the season switch, a package outside of his house. Inside he'll find a pair of mittens, a hat, and a scarf, all knit out of wool in boring simple earth tones.
If Mycroft is feeling particularly like seeing what the fuck is up with these random goods, a thorough inspection will reveal the yarn is made from goat's wool - not shocking, considering Izzekiel's herd - and the dye is all from natural sources easily found around the Meadous. Despite the fact that all points to be the yarn being hand spun, there's an oddly mechanical quality to the knitting. It's all basically perfect, with no deviations in the knit or pattern at all, like some sort of robot knit this and not an infallible human.
Are you planning on participating in your brother's murder mystery game?
~Renart
[She's been waffling herself, torn between wanting to see the humans be clever and wanting to out-clever them all herself. So... hanging out with the guy who will just solve it immediately and spending the rest of the game watching everyone else seems like a good compromise, right?]
[Interesting. He could easily figure it all out on his own in minutes, so he doubted that being asked to partner up was anything else but an attempt at winning via social manipulation...which he admired. So of course he'd do it.]
I agree to your terms. Please bring plenty of macarons, as I'll make short work of the competition and we may get bored.
[Eliza leaves a drawing in Mycroft's mailbox the night of Christmas Eve. It contains a drawing of him doing the Gendo pose, with thought bubbles featuring chibi versions of Sherlock and Watson. It's signed with Eliza's name and has "Merry Christmas!" written on it.]
[When Mycroft gets up in the morning he'll find a long, paper-wrapped gift on his front step, reading Joyeux Noël and with Renart's signature underneath. If he opens it he'll find an expensive-looking umbrella. Inside that is a sword, because it's always a good idea to give the Holmes brothers weaponry.]

You're welcome!]

But alas. The smell.
He manages to make a quick sketch of the bite marks before dragging the thing quite far to dispose of properly.
So much work. Ugh.]

And if you bring a thermos of tea I will bring the macarons.
